Home Support & Home Help Service

Home Support is a service which provides assistance with a child/adult with disabilities in the home. The level of service and needs of the family are assesssed by a Social Worker which can include the need to spend time with other siblings, following a program of activities with the child and assisting with social needs of the child. Home help is a service which supports you in the home with general household tasks such as cleaning,ironing,cooking etc.They may also help you with tasks such as shopping.It’s a service normally provided by the HSE. Ask your Public Health Nurse for a referral. Click here for more detailed information.

The service and eligibility differs from each HSE area and it is important to note that there have been cutbacks in both schemes in recent years.
